its probably 250-350 for a good used turbo.. if that is indeed the problem...

I am allways leary of people selling a car broken that needs a fairly cheap fix.

I would compression test it and inspect it closly. make sure its not bad oil control rings.

or go into it worse case senerio assuming the motor is blown.

I was planning to grab a compression tester from autozone or carquest before I went to look. I asked the guy what the compression numbers were and he took a bit to respond and said he didn't know. The other thing I noticed is that its apparently an 89 TII. Thought that they only made s4 TII ? When I asked for his address never got a reply, meh ill ask again before I leave and it is in, how you say, "Tha hood" so I'm going with a buddy. Might be a scam don't know.

Plus even if it would need a rebuild its still a nice shell and its pretty much my dream car so what ever .

Ok, for some reason I thought the "TII" was exclusive to the S4 and the S5 just had a "Turbo" model. But anyway, made an offer planning to get it delivered Monday.

I've been watching this one on cl for a while. The price just keeps dropping. I would say compression results would be key. Looks like an otherwise clean s5. I would probably grab it if I didn't just buy another.

I ended up buying it. I need some work the hoods a little beat up on the bottom edge, the door lock cylinders are toast and its missing the driver side mirror(I'm looking for a new one btw). Other than that all the electronics work. Unfortunately after I bought it I started pulling it apart exterior wise to fix the hatch lock and It may have been in an accident(clean title though...) But I ran a poor mans comp test and It sounded fine(didnt have a charged enough battery). He also had paperwork for compression and it was like 114 front 109 rear.

Currently waiting until Friday when I get payed to pull the trigger on a turbo. I have to pay for my next quarter of school so I've been super budgeting the past month or so. Just been cleaning it and pulling parts out and sorting them. Hopefully Ill have it going before Christmas.

Yep. Gotta go to school so I can bring home the oil er... bacon so I can by more rotaries But I found my driver side mirror I think. If all goes well the only big issue I will have is the turbo and then I have to pull apart the passenger side door cause its jammed. C'mon Friday.
