INFO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Mt. St Helens Drive
MAY 20th, 2007
North Drivers:
Everyone from the North will have their first stop at the 272nd Park n Ride to meet the first group. The directions are as follows.

Head South on I-5. Take exit #147 (272nd St). Turn right off of exit. At first light turn right. Turn right into Park n Ride. If you need gas, turn left off of exit and there is an Am-Pm down the street on the left.

Meeting time: 8:30am
Leaving time: 9:00am
(Please don’t be late, as we will be leaving at exactly 9:00 to meet up with the next drivers). If you need gas please fill up before joining us so we can be on time to Olympia.

Onward Olympia: Approximately 41 miles to Olympia (44 mins)
(Meeting Kettlman’s group)
Turn left onto 272nd; get in the far right lane. After the first light you will be getting onto I-5 going south.

Take the PACIFIC AVE. exit- exit number #107. Turn LEFT onto PACIFIC AVE SE. Look for Albertson’s on the left hand side. (About ¼ to ½ mile) End at 3540 PACIFIC AVE SE. We will meet at (Izzys Pizza).
(There should be plenty of time to fill up here. I expect we should have about 40 minutes to do so.

Meeting time: 10:00
Leaving time: 10:30
_________________________________________________

Together We Are
(1st Rest Stop) Approximately 30 miles past Olympia (33 mins)

Take I-5 South towards Portland. This exit is just past Centralia. We will be taking Exit #79 (Chamber way).
There is Gas and Fast food at this stop.

Estimated arrival: 11:00pm
Estimated Departing 11:30pm

Then we will be going a different route this year. less traffic, more turns, much better.

_________________________________________________
Note:
Please drive with caution. I know that everyone wants to show off his or her cars, but I'd rather see everyone make it home safely. Please take the road conditions into mind, especially in and around Mount St. Helen's.

lets hope this helps everyone.

This open to non- 7's? The 19th the 3's are organizing a meet down in Renton. Maybe we can combine the two rather than trying to separate them.

the roads from the last 3 years ar gonna be nothing compared to the ones this year. we are going to the other side. more twists, more fun, more senery, less traffic. PERFECT!!!

We'll just meet you at the top... we already discussed the fact that we wont be able to keep up. Few miata's might join as well.

I'm sure the mazdaspeed 3's and miatas will keep up just fine.

This is really a 2nd and 3rd gear route if it works out the way I want it to.

hey does anyone have a map of the route planned. im from vancouver, wa so the details posted are kinda sketchy for me.

also i was up aroudn st helens just a few days ago and they have the whole eastern side blocked off due to fallen trees and snowy roads. if your taking the western side to Johnston ridge you should be fine though.

also this says it is open to anyone that wants to go and the car type dont matter. is this correct? cause im part of the Carfreeks.net Nw club and im sure poeple would love to attend this drive. we all mostly drive stis' evo's 350z' and some other nice cars.

I'm sure all cars are welcome. It'd be nice to keep the crowd w/ responsible people though. Dont want to see someone get hurt.

As far as the plan, from what I have been told, maps wil be given out the day of the event. Find out if others are joining from south WA, and northern OR and set a meeting point, so everyone on that side can tag along.

well i got a few people that would like to join up on this. everyone is responsible, we do nw drives all the time and its always a blast to hang out. plus we are all rotary fans at heart. so its cool to see some nice rx's come out to play.

what is going to be the main meeting spot for people coming from southern washington? most of us carfreeks people would be heading up from portland, vancouver area.

let me know... thanks.

yeah all cars are welcome. the last spot we will be hitting is hw12 at 11:45 and departing at 12 noon.. i believe it is exit 68. then we will be going east to 25 and then up the back side. i will get a map set up and posted by the end of the weekend. will be nice seeing you again.

as far as caravaning up from portland...... we usualy only have 1 or 2 people come up, so it's open. make a good route.

ok i will talk to the freeks and see what everyone wants to do. odds are we will just meet at the vancouver mall and caravan up to the meet point off exit 68. we normally have around 20 cars that show for our drives, so im sure i can get a few involved.

also just as a pre warning. i did a drive up on teh back side of st helens just a couple days ago and the roads were blocked off. they were blocked on hwy 25 just off of hwy 90. so you might want to call the ranger station or someplace and ask around about the windy ridge area being open to public use. when we were up there, there was major trees covering the roads and we even ran into a large patch of snow that was blocking the roads.

i thought it was fun as all hell, but some peopel get scared about seeing trees in the road. lol

We drove up there a couple weeks ago and got about 20 miles up 25 - it was a fun 20 miles. I called the USFS and they are hoping to get Windy Ridge opened up. There is a big lot up there where we can all hang out if it's still closed and we will have a fun time getting there. I"ll be calling again next week to see how it's progressing.

Actually ill be taking the Evo 8 up there as long as thats alright with everyone. im in the process of selling my RX8 and dont want to add any hard driving to it before the guy comes to look at it.

also i will have a guy with a 98 corvette with me, and some other evo, sti guys with me from the portland area.

If anyone from south wants to meet up with the group. We will be meeting up at the Vancouver Mall outside the south west side of JC Penny. We plan to meet up around 830 and leave at 9 sharp to meet up with people in chehalis / Centrrailia area around 11.

See ya there.
