2 trannys in 3 weeks.

Well if your keeping score at home, I just grenaded another volvo tranny. Michelle and I killed the autotragic at the drags about a month ago, so we went down the 5spd manual swap path. I got it up and running last Saturday, and have been just putting around town to shake out the bugs.

We were about 5 blocks from the house last night, and I did a hard pull. in 2nd, it popped out of gear and that was it. Coasted the majority of the way home. I believe it blew out the "ring and pinion" as there is nothing happening in any of the forward gears. So if you know anyone who has a 5spd volvo tranny, give me a call.

Chris, I would suggest reading up on the theory of the "STATION WAGON". You might find out that they weren't intended for autocross. Call me crazy, but it's just a hunch.

Grae, I applying for a personalized plate this week, so what it the wagon is on jack stands in the garge, the force is strong in this wagon. Kinda like when Emperor Palpatine saved young Anakin on the volcanoe planet of Mustafar and rebuilt him into DARTH VADER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

P.S. Just need to do my red time attack accents.

The best (stock) handling car I ever own was an RX-4 Station wagon, would blow the doors off of my RX-2's in the corners and str8aways. 7's are in a differant class, so they don't count in this example.

I personally don't know, but I hear you can get semi-decent quality tranny's for a reasonable price in around west seattle. I heard this from gregs, and he'd know because he blows tranny's as a hobby.

Been a while for me to even talk on these forums but you know the usual places to look for Volvo stuff Chris (turbobricks). What 5 speed route did you go? I am thinking a getrag swap or the t5 route would give you the most life (might take a little extra work but you know what your doing). Glad to know I am not the only one rocking a turbo volvo wagon (87' 740 b230ft RWD FTW). My tranny is slipping bad in my volvo also.

Holy cow my thanks giving miracle was seeing Riggins post up, how have you been?

Tranny is in, and all systems are go, I have a check engine light, because you have to pull the tranny ecu when you do the 5 speed swap. Other than that, pulls hard, blows off when you let off. I might need to upgrade the muffler its starting to get pretty loud.
