Well, in my opinion, you're not missing much. The mazda 6 looks like a decent car, but in my opinion the rx-8 is lacking.
I'm curious to know why 4 doors and 4 seats are needed in a sports car.
Also the fact that the rx-7 isn't turbocharged is kind of dissapointing.
The styling similar to porsche, and power similar to the S2000.
Big deal.
I would have preferred if they had just release the type RZ with some small improvements.
Oh well,
Just my opinion...
/F.

I just read that rotarynews.com site and the interviews with the mazda execs say that there may be another rx-7 comming. No promises, but when they finally release the f'in thing I'll be old and grey. Screw the world!

guy's chill on the rx-8 negative remarks, be happy ford is letting the rotary live. the weird 4 door layout and four passenger capacity is creative and different. This car has a mass market appeal that will bring the price down on the next rx-7,,,so it does'nt look like a 3rd gen Woopie!, open your minds, start filling ford's email boxes with requests for 4 rotor mustang's, rotary powered nascar entries, Hydrogen fueled rotary passenger vehicles. Save the seven letters are a large part of why the rx-8 is here, if you want to see the rotary become more available and cheeper use your email!

Don't bother looking in the latest R&T magazine for new info on the RX-8. Aside from some nice pics, most of the article is rehashed text already seen on various websites, and there are no new details on the Renesis engine.
Another article in the issue looks more interesting. It's a piece on the Mazda Cosmo.

Attention all RX7 driver. GM has come up with away to help themselves and the Government hit us in the pocket one more time. They are trying to get a law passed that all vehicles are going to have to have DAYTIME RUNNING LIGHTS on at all times or it will be a federal offense. Any of you who are against spending more money then is necessary then suggest you sign this petition to BAN the DAYTIME RUNNING LIGHTS. If interested then go to www.petitiononline.com/BANDRLs/petition.html

I Can't believe all you Anti RX-8ers. Obviously its not an RX-7 thats not what its supposed to be. The RX-8 is posibly better in everyway and will Haul around your wife and kids a hell of a lot faster than any minivan or sedan. Crash saftey and rigidity is better than the RX as well. Whats wrong with 4doors/seats if you can't even see them anyway? And who needs a turbo when you have the highest specific output of any production engine Made on earth (192 HP/Litre......120 HP/LitreS2000). This engine gets way better MPG and will obviously last way longer than a turbo. And if youre still not happy, Buy the car for 28000 or whatever then spend 4000 on a turbo, (small amount in comparison to price of car) and you will likely keep up with vipers. Just because the car is practicle dosn't mean it's not a sports car, It Just means it's going to sell.
