RX Tuner Magazine a GO!
#76
zoom zoom go boom
No kidding, we all want this magazine. I saw a ford focus tuner magazine on the magazine rack yesterday at a gas station. WE NEED A MAGAZINE! Count me in for anything needed to be done. HELL, I'll start taking pictures and doing write-ups on everything I do to my car to help out the mag. And as far as subscriptions go...I have the money in hand right now.

What a joke!
(rant mode on)
I find this thread a fricken' joke!
If this were anywhere near a serious idea the thread starter (Boostd7) would at least respond with an update here or there, instead of just shining everyone on. A month without posting any info or answering any of the many questions is just ludicrous. I don't care if this magazine every does happen now, if the thread starter is anywhere behind this magazine ever happening I couldn't/wouldn't count on him making it work in the long run, my $.02 worth. I've pretty much lost any trust in his ability to run this thing. So much for public relations!
Blah.....Whatever.

Maybe this'll influence a response

The prototype issue has been posted online at:

Remember, it's just a prototype. The layout is finalized, but some of the content is basically filler. Post thoughts here.

By mid-November we'll have the online subscription system up on www.rxtuner.com
Lots of paperwork to get finalized before we can start accepting credit card numbers.

Count me in.
A few concerns though:
First, the guys who are worried about equal coverage of 1st gens and prior have a point. I think the best solution here would be to have at least one story covering each of the three gens of RX7 and another on prior rotary Mazdas per issue. That way, nobody feels cheated and the magazine is given the best possible opportunity to succeed.
Secondly, one of the things I've noticed about other magazines that I've subscribed to (namely Flying, Plane and Pilot, and Private Pilot) is that they seem to recycle their content year in and year out--- kinda like a rock band whose songs all sound the same (Are you listening, Mick Jagger?). Nothing makes readers tune out faster than spending money on a rag, and then finding that the info they're reading in September's issue is very close to an article they read in the previous November issue.
I think that there's enough sources and ideas for storys in this mag that it won't be necessary to recycle content anyway--- the occasional story on Mazda rotaries used in aircraft, rotary history stories covering other-than-Mazda rotaries, features for reputable rotary rebuild shops and suppliers (Atkins, Rx7 Specialties, Pinnapple, Bruce Turrentine, Real World Solutions, Racing Beat, etc) would insure that there's always lots to write about.
Finally, the magazine name rocks--- but have you checked with your legal dept to make sure that Ford/Mazda can't lay claim to the "RX" designation? If the unthinkable happens and things get ugly, "Rotary Tuner" (keep the rotor drawing) would be an alternative.
Anyway, the whole idea sounds good. If the above issues are dealt with I think you have a winner.

We MUST have FB/SA and FC stuff. FD's are nice but very few have them. I love The first two gens enough to not buy the mag if they aren't included. The FD won't hold my subscription alone. But for now I AM IN. Just let us know when we can order a sub.
