Description:

Looking for someone with a wrecked RHD shell they are parting out that would be willing to cut the rear seat mount brackets off carefully for me so I can weld them into my LHD vehicle.

Yes the latches bolt in to that sheet metal I have shown in the picture with the green check mark. That is what i am after. Its welded to the shock tower. LHD US market cars don't have the sheet metal with the bolt holes.

Idk. There have been lots of people that have bolted in rear seats to their FD without needing to weld in brackets.

I’d be interested to see what they bolted the brackets too when there is nothing there.

It’s definitely a problem. I added rear seats to my FD as well and the rear seat likes to fly open every time I brake too hard. I’ve tried to find these standoffs too but no one is keen on grinding off the welds and selling them. I’ve toyed with having some thin steel brackets Cnc’d and bent so I can weld them in myself but haven’t gotten around to it.

I was hoping to jump in on this thread and get a set as well after you got yours.

Just make a bracket. There have been countless swaps. No one is going to cut up a car for that.

I don’t think making something could be too bad. If push comes to shove maybe we can come up with something.

was hoping to find someone with a wrecked shell being parted out. Didn’t expect that anyone would cut up their perfectly good car.

I have the JDM seats and the brackets. There are places marked on the strut tower for you to drill into. The hole isn't there, but the "mark" where to put the hole is if you look.

So the brackets being, I’m guessing it’s an inch, closer to the strut tower isn’t an issue then?
Would be great to see a photo of yours if possible

I actually didn't put mine on, seat stays up on it's own, but I can mock it up with tape instead of bolts and take pictures

Excuse my hand, I didn't feel like disassembling the entire tower to tape it on. You have to drill into your tower, but it lines right up with the slot in the seat. And there are guide "indentations" on the tower if you take a look closely.

When I put my brackets on like yours the bracket doesn't seem to sit as flat. Thats weird, I'll have to try again. Thanks for doing that Tom.

Interesting. I wonder why those bolt hole indentations are there if the version of the car that came with the rear seats it had that extra piece welded to the shock tower for the attachment. Maybe there are two different types of brackets?

Not sure if it matters, but I have a 93 touring. Yeah, my brackets sit flush with the tower and slip right into the back of the seat bracket.

Right?! Doesn't quite make sense. I have the day off tomorrow, my car is completely stripped currently, but maybe ill throw those parts in real quick to see how it lines up.
