We get a LOT of scammers here. ALWAYS make dead certain that the person you are replying to is the actual person who posted the sale ad. Scammers post with VERY similar-looking names but have very low post counts (usually 1 or 2 posts). They nearly always respond with a phone number they want you to reach out to.

So, what happened, was there was a scammer who posted right after your post saying that you were interested. They said they would sell and gave a phone number.

You don't see that post anymore because the Mod banned the account and deleted the posts. So it looks like they were responding to you since that in-between post is gone now.

Thank you Sigma for explaining that. And thank you all for policing the marketplace. Such a shame to have to deal with the dishonest ones.

To the O.P..... Good Luck With The Sale!!

Scamming is absolutely RAMPANT in the FD community. But it's not that difficult to avoid with just a little attentiveness.

Here, on the forums, always make sure you're talking to the person you think you are. Check post counts. Check names VERY carefully. Check all the icons that long-time members have under their names (the seniority here, the 'liked' member, etc -- new scammers spoofing old accounts won't have that stuff). Always use PayPal Goods and Services so you are protected unless you are familiar with who you are buying from.

There are entire Facebook groups -- ones with tens of thousands of members that SEEM very legit-- that are nothing but pure scam groups. They scam dozens of people daily for thousands of dollars each. Join enough FD parts selling groups on FB and you'll be WADING through Sale ads from scammers.

On Facebook, which is a great place to find FD parts outside of the sheer amount of scammers, make sure you are staying away from groups where all (or nearly all) the posts are actually made by the Admin of the group. That's usually the biggest giveaway. Be extremely wary of deals that are too good to be true. These guys will offer insane deals on hard-to-find parts to make you feel like you gotta snag it up right now. If they insist on immediate payment via some wire service or some other non-protected method, don't do it. Worse yet, after scamming your once, they will often come back within a day or two and try to get MORE money from you for a mysterious freight forwarder or tariff issue or something.

Sigma is CORECT on all counts
Best advice for FD parts is to steer clear of Facebook / Ebay / Japan sellers (unless you need RHD parts)...BUY on this FORUM and check sellers iTrader rating
