Pull the leading plugs and deflood to remove all fuel. Then try starting with a completely charged battery.

Go back over all of your connections, vacuum and electrical. If you don't have a copy of the FSM, follow the link to the online ones.

pulling the wire off the coil and hold it next to it to actually see the spark......you also hear a ticking noise.....

Check all the connections to the leading coil. If you need a new coil, you can usually find them for about 20 bucks on Ebay...

my best guess is you need new coil packs... new wires and plugs would be smart to replace too... or it could be a simple bad battery alternator or starter...

A bad alternator or starter will in no way prevent the leading coil from sparking.

Coils also rarely fail, so it's best to test them with the procedures in the FSM before assuming they are bad.
