Won't start?

hi the car i am asking about is actually my cousins but im helping him with it so here goes

he has an 89 GTU 5 spd with a 13b engine in it...the other day it just all the sudden died and was told by someone it was the alternator so we put a new one on it and the car fired right up drove to the store and put gas in it but on the way home it died again and couldn't get it to start...push start or anything so we are thinking fuel pump but are not sure... yesterday we bought another 2nd gen rx7 i believe its an 89 as well with a rebuilt engine in it that was dropped in the car but never hooked up ... tomorrow we are going to pull the fuel pump off of it and drive it to the other car (2 hours away) so i guess what i am asking is what all should we pull to switch over for a mostly guaranteed start and drive back?

also what would be the best rear end to put on a 2nd gen rx7 for a motor pushing 700+ hp?

Sounds like the "new" alternator is bad. The quality on some of the reman parts is crap, so test the voltage with the motor running. Charge the battery. If it starts and runs for a little while, it's probably the alt. You can have both alternators and batteries tested at your local parts store.

Why are you named after a Pain Reliever?..(ate them,Got the ulcer to prove it!).
Some aftermarket alternators are Bad out of the box,and some don't Last for some reason on the Rx7.Maybe high revs, who knows, but I will Say bad alternator,or the Battery has a bad cell.
Did you ever Look at the Voltage gauge and see any Differenece when it started to go down?.any Warning light go on?.
Measure the Battery voltage with car running and then Not Running, and also without Cables.Car running:about 13.8...Car off about 12-13. with the cables off,you can also test Current drain to see if there is any current being drained off your battery whne the car is off,That is a bad thing. It would be a bad switch or something, that leaves a circuit on and drains the battery each time teh car is off.
Anyways,good Luck..Happy Holidays ,,and Oxycocet to you!.LOL!

symptoms?

i had a few starting issues with the FC a few years back...

1st things 1st (as stated above): check battery

also, a flooded engine won't start: check plugs for "foulness"

fuses: double check them. ESPECIALLY the main ones in the engine bay
