Wondering about timing chain and a couple other things....

So I'm about to do a radiator swap, but I figured while I'm ripping off my front end I might as well get a couple things done. I'm planning on doing a water pump, thermostat, and new timing chain in addidtion to my new Corksport Radiator and hoses. I tried finding the timing chain at my local Orielies but no luck. Anyone know a good place to get a timing chain kit or something? My local Mazda dealership doesn't know squat about FCs.

..Uh...???
A Timing chain runs between a Crank shaft and Cam shaft,so the Valves open and close. This is on a PISTON engine.
Since a ROTARY engine has NO Valves,The only chain you may want is an Oil pump chain, but it should not need replacing.

Wow, thats kinda what I thought. I was told to change my timing belt, and all I could think was "I've changed all the belts I can see...what ells could he mean". So I asked my friend at Orielies and he said its a chain lol. Wow guess that answers that question.

With all the money you'll from the timing chain, how about plugs and wires? Fuel Filter?

One time, when my '91 flooded and just would not start, I had it towed to my gas station mechanic. The guy stunned me with his diagnoses. First, he said that I needed a new engine. I nearly fainted. The car floods and that equates to needing a new engine?!?

He kept it to "try some other things," and then told me that it needed a new timing belt. When I pointed out that rotary engines don't have a timing belt, he stuttered and said, "Oh, I mean the timing chain..." When I said, "no, they don't have that either," the guy totally stuck his foot in his mouth. He said "That's amazing. I worked at a Mazda dealership for 10 years; they must have changed it since then."

By this time, I just wanted to get my car out of this douchebag's hands.

But when I told him I had a tow truck on the way to take it away, he got busy and -- lo and behold -- got it started. Now he said that the problem was fouled spark plugs, which he said had not been changed in a long, long time with a "shame on you" kind of attitude. When I whipped out my receipt for having him change the spark plugs a few months earlier, he stepped all over himself trying to back out of that bullshit.

Oye! "Caveat emptor" to the max. Luckily for me, I had talked to someone who clued me into the "no timing belt/chain" issue for RX7s, because otherwise I would have been at this guy's mercy.

Best part of owning a rotary engine , is when you tell someone it has no pistons , or timing belt in this case

But yeah , No timing belt on these timing is dictated by the phases of the rotor
