The clutch needing to be pushed in for the starter to spin is normal. There is a safety switch that makes this happen. In fact almost all manual transmission cars have this. As far as the grinding, could be bad starter.

99.9% sure that what you said is not the problem, im pretty mechanically inclined...its like my clutch is my ignition and turning my key just gives me power.... so i turn the key to the on position let go of the key.....push the clutch in it turns over(starts)...go to put the car into gear it push the clutch in when the car is running it activates the starter again..

Could your key thingy be messed up? Staying in the start position even though it moves back to the on position.

when i turn the key to the start position nothing happens....if it is running and i try and turn it back to the on position it shuts off? normally when you turn a car on you the key springs back to the on position this doesnt..and still the wiring problem exists? idk im out of ideas.

The clutch has to be depressed for the car to start when the key is turned to the start position. If your key is not springing back to the normal ON position then it sounds like your key/switch is messed up. This would possibly explain why when you press the clutch in again with the motor running the starter engages.

haaa, your ignition switch is stuck giving the starter juice

the grinding is your starter engaging when you press the clutch in

the flooding is a totally seperate issue

would it be easier to wire in a push button or just get a new ignition? id like to go the cheaper route.
