Window Won't Roll Down

I have a 91 S5 RX7. When I bought it, the master window switch in the driver's door was broken. Yesterday, I pulled a master switch out of an 88 RX7, installed it, but couldn't get it to roll the window up or down. I COULD however, roll the passenger window down using the newly installed switch in the driver's door. There can only be two solutions. S4 window switches don't work well on an S5, and I should get an S5 window switch, or, I have a bad motor in my door. What do you guys have to say? Thank you!

Carefully open up either switch, and clean the contacts inside. Keep it upright when separating the two halves to prevent pieces from falling everywhere. Polish everything up with a little scotchbrite, and use a little diaelectric grease if you like.

Thanks, I'll try that, but I still don't know if S4 switches are compatible with an S5. Thats what I really want to find out...
