Why am i getting turbo surge?

89 turbo 2

Mods:
Rtek 1.8
Bnr stage 2 turbo
720cc injectors x 4
FMIC
Aeromotive Fuel Pressure Regulator
Walbro 255 fuel pump
Turbo xs manual boost controller
Turbo xs RFL bov
eBay single exhaust ( no cats)

When I let off throttle under boost I get that wub wub wub sound and a/f meter goes crazy. It doesn't happen all the time. I'm trying to figure out why this is happening. I don't think it's a tune issue maybe waste gate or bov? Bought this car w most of these mods done. I did notice it doin it when I first bought it thinking it was normal ( first turbo car:/) I've learned more than I could imagine in the last coup weeks owning this car. I would like to figure this out myself instead of taking it to a tune shop or something. I figure someone can help me out here. Thanks guys.
Nick

is there an adjustment on that BOV? i think I know the answer, but i'll ask anyway: does it vent to atmosphere or recirculate? I would start there.

To adjust bov you shim the spring inside w washers. It vents to atmosphere. I notice this surge when I lightly let off throttle if I fully let off it doesn't do it. I'm wondering if I could just be my fat foot used to an auto car for the last 5 years lol

Ok guys is there some sort if adjustment I need to make? To the bov? The car does this wub wub wub only when you slowly let up off the gas while car is boosting. If I just quickly let up off the gas it does the normal ksssspshhh of the bov. What's goin on here? I know this is not good for my turbo. Is it my driving? What the hell?!??! Anyone have some input?

Not many people that deal with turbo surge come through this section. You may have better luck in the single turbo section.
It's also because you're looking for someone with experience with a particular setup using that BOV.

Can you document it or are you positive it is compressor surge?

What boost are you running and what is the range of that BOV supposed to be?

I am not well versed in the subject, but I'd suspect some BOV internal like an incorrect spring. Either a weak spring cranked down too far or a stiff spring barely being compressed.

Thanks. Yes I'm sure it's surge. Not sure of the range but I'm running 10psi. I do believe its something to do w the bov.
