Where do you get obsolete parts?

Is there a list for member made parts? Parts that are not available from the dealer, but can be substituted?

What exactly are you looking for? Mazdatrix.com has a lot of parts, although most of those are probably from Mazda themselves. Other places like AtkinsRotary, Pineapple Racing, rx7.com, etc. have specific parts too. If you can be a little more specific then we will be able to help you out a lot more.

If you are looking for upgrade suspension parts (not sure if you are), then check out

www.re-speed.com

Aside from that, there are a number of other resources for you, depending on exactly what you are looking for.

There's also a list of vendors with websites in the 2nd Gen section, might be under the archived stuff though, if I remember right

Thanks for the responses. What I am looking for is small parts like "good" oil injectors, and working solenoids for the polution controls.

I know that there are industrial parts that can be ordered.

For example,
  • tubing that can be substituted for the original Mazda (too expensive) versions.
  • check valves to place in the spider hose to augment oil injectors that no longer are one way
  • etc...

I was hoping someone had compiled a list of these work-arounds that can be purchased from industrial sources. This would be a handy list for parts that are not easy to get - or too expensive from Mazda.

In the meantime, I must post-***** until I have enough posts to actually respond to a for sale ad. Or place one of my own.

Most FC parts can still be bought at the dealer, I am only guessing you have an FC due to your name.

Smog parts are hard to come by. I know first-hand as I just tracked down a refurbished EGR Valve (not made new anymore by ANYONE), and it costs me ~$250. If you ever have any issues with smog parts, call the BAR (Bureau of Automotive Repair) of California and tell them you're looking for a specific part. They'll give you a few numbers to call, all of which refurb old parts.

Keep accumulating posts in this thread and post random crap on the "Introduce Yourself" forum.

I agree with that. Most parts can be found, but not all parts can. And for those parts that can be found, sometimes it is better (and easier on the wallet) to just get industrial repacements.

The OMP hose above is an example. Mazda may want $50 for the tube (making this number up because I don't remember the actual price) whereas you can order the tubing from an industrial supplier for pennies per inch.

Thanks, someone PMed me that this is done because you are trying to exclude scammers. I'm not really sure how waiting until they have 10 posts will prevent someone from trying to scam people works - but if that is what it takes then I guess that is what I have to do. Just seems a little odd.

Like I said, it also helps the community learn about you so that we can trust you when it comes to buying and selling of parts.

We actually have seen a pretty significant decrease in the amount of spammers since they started forcing new members to wait until they had a set amount of posts in the newbie sections.
