welcome to the board.

you need to state what car you have!

given the sizes you listed, i will assume this is a Gen I, so that's what i'm running with ...

assuming you could find wheels in that size, and the correct bolt pattern, modifications would be REQUIRED for function and to simply keep the car from looking dumb.

for myself, i've always been partial to the stock wheels, but clearly that's not what you want. that said, i probably would not go any larger than 15x7. i've seen some nice 16s run on Gen I cars, but none that did not require inner fender modifications or life with rubbing.

those are my thoughts. i'm sure you will hear more.

yes my car is gen1 its an 85. i honestly wish i could find a shop that was willing to widen my stock wheels cause i love my stocks. but i want something wider because i wanna lower. camber nd stretch my tires. i just wanted to know what size would be safe to run. nd yes i know modification will be necessary. i already plan on flareing my fenders.

i know. i feel the same ...

the German car enthusiasts are lucky in that regard. both VW and Porsche have aftermarket support with wheels that keep the factory designs but modernize the available sizes. wheels like the old VW Teardrops and Snowflakes and the Porsche classic Fuchs are being made by a few aftermarket companies (some better than others) and it would be nice if we had that.

sadly enough though, i have to express my lack of faith in us (as owners/enthusiasts) that there might not be enough support to sustain it if a company did step up.

oh no, i think we could do it. cause everyone i asked that, it was an awsome idea. but good luck finding someone who will do it nd do it so they wont break. nd thats what steered me away. i think we should contact a company nd see if they are willing to do it.
