wheel and exhaust upgrade

hi guys
i am looking at upgrading from these shitty mags i have at the moment to D1r's
my current tire size is 215/45/R17
i want the maximum amount of offset for the new rims what can this be?
can anybody tell me what offset a 87 fc3s can get to in the front and rear?
the rims i am looking at getting in either 8.5" or try stretch the tires to fit over 9"
and i am getting out of the dual exhaust
couple of questions
can i take the 2 pre converters out and not have mad engine failure or anything stupid?
and does anybody have a reco brand that they have used or seen been used?
i have a mate that is going to do the whole system custom out of titanium as he owes me a favour so sizes of pipes and mufflers to buy would be awesome

thanks

I've never heard of anyone getting engine problems from removing cats. There ARE people that go straight pipe and no problems there, except for smog if u live in California like me.

With the right spacers coilovers, and over fenders, you can practically make any rim and tire combination fit on a car.

About the pre-cats: You can remove those no problem, they won't cause you any problems EXCEPT if you live in an area where you have smog check regulations. At that point the most you can do it just gut them.

The size of the exhaust solely depends on you. For turbo applications a lot of people run 3" piping with success. However, in a turbo FC, running larger exhaust with gutted or removed precats will almost certainly cause you to run a little leaner and also cause some boost creep. Both can be fatal to the engine.

im not sure but i think you might need a block off plate on the manifold if you delete the cats, i might be wrong but on an s5 na i had there was a pipe for egr that i had to block off but its been a long time since i had that. otherwise deleting the cats you be straight forward

^ There is a pipe that feeds into the main cat yes, but it doesn't go into the pre-cats so deleting the pre cats would require no blocking off.

thanks guys

yeah with the wheels i was hoping for the maximum amount of offset without guard mods....but still i get what you guys are saying thanks...... and with the exhaust as i forgot to mention the car is an s4 and is NA and my welder from he's research thinks that a 2 1/4 inch or 2 1/2 inch titanium piping all the way through except i am opting to keep the main cat and then to a good hks or top branded tuner muffler .......... and with australia smog rules dont apply you get away with murder down in tassie coppers only really pick on minitruckers and really dodgey looking cars us tuners get looked after...... so with that pipe that runs to the main cat though if i decided to remove the cat would it be best for me to tell my welder to make a fitting so i am able to thread the pipe that was originally going into the cat onto the straight pipe with something like compressor fittings or gas fittings........once again thanks for all your heap guys the rotary knowledge in tasmania is so little it sucks

cheers

^ Yes, that is a good idea. For instance, I have a test pipe, but still ran the tube to it via a fitting because it just makes it look stock.
