What was your favorite "RX7 moment"?

I have had a lot of "RX7 moments" in the 20 plus years I have driven rotary rockets.

My first one came before I even owned it, when the owners of the car dealership opened up the side so I could drive it out of the showroom.

I remember going out to dinner with my wife and coming out to find a couple guys drooling all over it. Then there was pulling into a gas station that was absolutely packed, and when I went in to pay the attendant said "Are you the one with the car?".

I remember racing a new mustang across the back roads of Southern Illinois, and another time flying down the blacktop at $130 miles per hour.

I remember the first time I got in my 83 RX7 (in 83), and thought the inside lighting made it look like downtown chicago at night.

I still have moments when I walk out of a business establishment at night, and see it parked under a light, and think "man that car looks so great!".

What are your most memorable moments in your RX7?

I'd have to say, when I test drove it for the first time. The push from a rwd vehicle was so blissful, in fact it still is!

I think it is universally accepted that "when it runs" is THE "RX7 moment."

I do like the indecision on 130 mph vs $130 per hour as both seem correct... it's always worth every penny though.

i think my favorite one has to be when i got it and pulled up to rite aid ( its where all the "ricers" hang out) and asked if anyone wanted to race. turns out EVERYONE its scared of these things. they all have "really fast" cars but are scared of me. it makes me laugh everytime!

"every time you drive it, it's an RX7 moment..." well said! Last night I ran over to a local gathering and gave an old friend a ride home. he was from England and when he got in he said "say! this certainly looks like a lot of fun! what is it?". had to do a U-turn to exit the street we were on but rather than drive all the way to the cul-de-sac, I just reversed direction right in the street. at the same time, answering his question of "what do you like best about it?" with "the tight turning radius! "

yeeha. love that car.

My best RX7 moments have been with the times meeting new people with similar interests. Caravans and group get togethers make the car so much more enjoyable.

Is this really a tech post?

"is this really a tech post?"... oops! busted. I put this in the wrong area.
guilty as charge; but well-intended.

Have only been driving one for a couple of months, but so far it was pulling out of the toll booth next to a Mustang that dearly wanted to get ahead of me. HE DIDN'T!!!!

Attempting to redline her last night. I haven't owned mine that long either, but everytime I get inside, it's an unforgetable experience. She's totally worth all the trouble. My 1st car, my first manual, my first rotary!

here's an RX7 moment of a different type... I have fequently run into people who walk up to me and say "is that your RX7? I used to have one. I loved that car. I think driving that car was the most fun I ever had..." Sometimes, I responded with "that's why I am still driving it".

just found a dandy set of quarter panels. the baby will spend the winter with the local car restorer, getting the panels put on, and a new paint job! (and miscellaneous other things you might expect in a car that is 27 years old.
