Where as you could take nearly any V-8 muscle car and make it perform like the one at the start of the movie for almost no budget.

I can go my CL right now and find several FC, SA/FB but there is only 1 FD and they want 17k for it.

Yeah its a cool car. Buts not yet a classic, doubt it will ever be. FDs might be.
in all honesty, that's a load of crap.

yes the FD looks nicer and retained it's value much more because it was much more limited than the rest of the models.

but try finding a clean car from any of the other generations, i find that things have just about equalled out in most respects finding nice clean cars from just about each and every generation of 7. most of the FDs were well kept, many also turned into tattered up beat cars, i see just as many beat up FDs as i do beat up FCs and FBs. the clean ones seem to be averaged out, at car shows i usually see as many clean FB/FC/FD across the board now, except the FDs usually have a little more bling because the owners can invest more due to the higher resale value. but which is better? a nice clean FB all original with original paint with 70k miles or a totally done up FD with a big single and polished parts? that is where we border into personal opinion, but both are still clean, well maintained and have value.

sure FnF focused on the FD but many games show FC and even FB with similar respect due to shows like initial D which focused mainly on the FC over the FD. the older generation fell in love with the FB because it was the start of a one of a kind sport car model.

but why are we arguing about stupid *** TV shows? the cars are becoming more rare, but i don't consider "rare" and "classic" to be the same thing. age makes things classic, low quantity makes things rare.

my '74 REPU is classic and rare, i don't consider a 20 year old car to be classic yet. 30+ years is borderline to me. i simply don't get into my '87 turbo II and feel i'm driving a classic car. i did with my '70 datsun 1600, my '70 datsun 510, my '69 elcamino and my '74 REPU. they all have that old nostalgic feel, which the FB semi has, the FC does not yet, the FD definitely not.

kids think the FC is classic because it is older than they are, it has an older feel unlike all the computerized cars these days with finely moulded plastic interiors and airbags to make you feel comfy and safe.

this argument makes me feel like someone could take a brand new car and call it "classic" because it is classy or rare, or in their eyes made out of gold.

Just calling it how it is in this neck of the woods.

You can get a 1st gen dsm, 1st/2nd gen RX7, ek, early model teg, s12,13, and z31 for cheap, MK II/III they are a dime a dozen.

But 2nd Gen GSX/TSi Awd, FD, Late Model GSR, EG, S14, Z32, MK IV are all overpriced, and tending to appreciate in value especially for clean, unmolested examples. I can't complain, I tend to love the 80s/Early 90s body styles. Don't get me wrong I own a 2nd gen DSM and just got lucky to find it for a good price. But the FCs in my area tend to stay for sale for a long time, and you don't see many survivors, or built examples.

However it seems like everyone has a built foxbody, semi built 2g, or EG hatch.

When I was little a "classic" Was a 70s or older Mustang/Camaro/Mopar. Its what my parents wanted when they where teenager, and its what they were restoring when I was a child. I am in mid twenties and to me the classics are all the cars that were popular when I was a teen. If I was in thirties or early 40s it would probably be SA/FB/FC era cars.

because no one wants to buy an original car with 125k on the clock on the original motor for $3500. same as someone looking to buy an original FD with 100k for $14k.

both will be looking at a $3k motor in the near future, course the FD won't be eating a bullet as it is still going to be worth $14k which is less of a blow compared to a $3500 car.
