Your first top before asking any question should always be the FAQ sticky thread that covers your generation of RX-7. If you had looked there, or searched "how to buy", you would have found this:

How To Buy An '86-'92 Non-Turbo RX-7
How To Buy An '86-'92 Turbo RX-7

If you think that you are going to find a 20+ year old convertible in perfect shape then you need to look for a psychiatrist.

When I was Young,The perfect girl was described to me by my Dad (rest his soul).
He said: "the perfect woman was a blind, deaf and dumb, nymphomaniac that owned a liquor store!"
(please,no Offense to anyone!)
Now that I am older,I am looking for someone a little more simplistic..She does not need to be blind.(cough, sorry again).....the liquor store is a definite plus though!!!
NOW.OP..there are nice Verts out there but don't expect them to be like 100 bucks.
The Vert, I feel is one of the Rx series cars that actually hold a bit of value.
Hit up the For sale sections on Forum. At least they would be formerly owned by someone that "knows" what a Wankel is.
Back road hunting is fun too..you never know what lurks in the heart of someone's driveway.

When i bought my vert i got super lucky, chick owned, garage kept its whole life, she too had a good lookin girlfriend lol but anyhow, the car was flawless (except had old fuel and carbon buildup i would soon find out). moral of the story is your never gonna know by looking, its when you get to do that first tuneup that you find out what your working with imo... i payed $3800 for a Bone Stock 88' vert that is no longer original or as flawless as it was LOL good luck

With a very you should be careful about the electronics because those are very common to go first. And it's a huge pain to figure out where the specific wires go and getting them fixed.
