What is this connector?!!

Hi, I have just fitted a rebuilt engine into a 93 tt manual import fd. There is one connector on the front harness which I can't figure out.. I have looked through the manuals and diagrams and annotated harness pics and can't find it! It comes out near the drivers side (car is rhd) headlight from the front harness. It has 2 wires, a blue with red stripe and a black with white stripe. The connector is round with a rubber o ring around it. It is yellowish but I imagine it is clear or maybe white as new. The wire coming from the loom is about a foot long. The car turns over and fuels but does not fire so I'm hoping this is to do with it. Any ideas would be much appreciated. I will try to sort an image out to help. Thanks.

welcome to the board, Pete.

while your description seems excellent, I can only speak for myself since I am not intimately familiar with the Gen III (FD) that maybe a photo or two that show the connector (and it's physical location/context) may be in order. it may get you an answer quicker. wish I could help.

Thanks but I think I have solved the mystery, all be it by complete coincidence! I removed a friends exhaust system off his impreza and found an exact female version of the male plug I was trying to figure out. So it's actually egt I believe, or possibly O2, I'll have a better look tomorrow as I was in a rush. Unfortunately this hasn't sorted my no spark situation though.. Oh well, onto the next post I guess!
