hi, i have a 1986 s4 turbo ii and just started having problems with my car starting. my car is a drift car so it sits in-between events. also the guy i bought the car from removed all emission and cold starting equipment, etc so to star the car u must give it some gas. i go to start the car, it turns over fine. then i flip the fuel on and go to start it. takes about 2 mins of turning it over for it to fire up, but when ever i let off of the starter it dies. this happened maybe 5 times. i thought i flooded it, so i turned off the fuel and turned it over. it started firing so i was like cool its just flooded. once unflooded, i had the same problem like 2 more times. would start, but as soon as i let off of the starter it died. eventually it fired up and stayed on. only problem that was also new was that their was an exhaust leak between turbo and down pipe. hmmmmmm...... i looked on other forms and threads but no scenarios like mine.

have you tested the compression yet?

also, it would help if you listed any modifications. i notice you mentioned "flipping" the fuel pump on and off, and that you have to use the throttle, so i think it needs to be clear exactly what you're running with this car.
