weird sound when starting engine cold...

When i first start the engine to be honest sounds like its not getting enough air. Turns over but i have to step on the gas to get it going. Then when i get the rpms over 2500 sounds like the fan turns on or sucks in a ton of air... so looks like i do get a check engine light but im pretty sure its cause of my o2 sensor. Do you think it could be cause of my o2 sensor? Or is it not getting enough fuel? New plugs?/ filter? Have a 89 t2

maybe check if your sparkplugs and see if they are corroded and needs to be changed? and my fan also gets loud at 2500rpm but turns quiet after like 5 seconds, which i would think is normal.

02 sensor is cheap and easy. may as well replace it anyway.
