waterpump going out??
couple months ago i got a TII and i noticed coolant dissapearing so i take it up to my guys at a shop and they said i got a bad heater core hose.. ok bought it, its put in, no more coolant leak well i brought it in for a oil change then all of a sudden they say i need a new waterpump... they even brought me in there and i saw a couple drops of coolant by the waterpump... well why didnt they catch that before.. anyways before that ive always check underneath the car just in cause for coolant leaks and the tank for the coolant level and its the same so why are they saying i need a new waterpump maybe just the gasket is going idk

Where is the leak from?
If it is gasket behind the water pump or water pump housing, the that's just a matter of swapping them out. Though if the pump is old it makes sense to replace it at that point.
If it is at the shaft of the water pump then yep, you need a new one.

If it's from the weep hole below the shaft, it's done. Replacing a water pump isn't too bad. You'll need a pump and gasket, and a new gasket to go between the housing and front cover is a good idea. Although if you're careful, you can remove the pump without breaking the seal behind the housing.

I just replaced my water pump. It was about $25 plus the gasket sealant. I think it took me thirty minutes and I can hardly spell "car" :-)

well when the guys at the shop showed me the waterpump and it was leaking on a rod cant remember what its called.. sry... but today when i looked under it.. it looked like the same drops my guess is since there was so much gunk it never really dried up soo were they wrong for saying i need a new one and if i do how hard is it to put one in?

Clean the area to make this a lot easier. Was it dripping onto the metering oil pump rod? That could be a leak from almost anywhere in that area including the hose at the back of the water pump housing, thermostat housing, water pump or water pump housing to front iron gasket.
