water temp question

So what is the limit on water temp when racing a stock 1st gen for extended periods? Ran an enduro last weekend and the temp was around 215 for about 12 hrs...then the power started to fall off. Still ran, but wouldn't pull 4th gear all that great. Oil was at about 230.
I don't know jack about these things, so any help is a bonus.

welcome to the board.

check the lower hose to see if it's collapsing at high RPM. i know at one point you could get hoses with the metal reinforcement in it, but these days i don't see them any more. which oil cooler do you have - the water or air? get air if you don't already have it.

check out RB's Technical Articles on cooling

also, the Race section of the forum may have other ideas and solutions.
good luck!

It's an air cooled oil cooler, not water cooled. This was the first time racing this car and it didn't have a fan on it like our old car, so I am guessing this is the reason why it ran hot.
Motor had a ton of miles on it before the weekend, so not surprised it dumped before the races end. Prob got a rotor seal since it didn't have a miss, just felt like it lacked compression, haven't checked that yet.
