PA V8 swap Suspension

I have been searching, but it has become a pain. Out of curiousity and to prepare, what do I need to do(if anything) for my 85 GSL to hold the weight of a 302(carb) and t5 5 speed up compared to the 12a that was originally in the car. I bought it without a motor in it last night(although it has the original rotary trans still in it) any help is appreciated

How about a nice modern V8 instead? If you have to modify the suspension to hold the weight of an engine you are installing, something is wrong.

Anyway, check out norotors.com or the Other Engine Conversions section. Should be a lot of info there.

Thanks, maybe I should clarify my choice in the 302. Its not a heavy engine, but I am assuming its a bit heavier than the 12a, at least with original iron heads. But they are much cheaper than a chevy engine initially, and last just as long. I love the way a 302 sounds and am well aquainted with working on them. I've been a Honda scene guy for about 5 years and done over 22 engine swaps, so I know going up in displacement is going to tax the suspension/balance slightly. I did hear however, that the v8 sits further back in the chassis and the t5 trans is extremely light due to the aluminum case. And on another note(possibly this site) someone claimed an aluminum headed 302 and t5 weight only somewhere around 50 pounds more than a rotary? Secondly I want a carb because I want as little wiring underhood as possible and it will get wiretucked and a shaved engine bay throught the process. I autocrossed for the first time today but in my girlfriends 2009 beetle and it was awesome, but im sure my rx7 will be either drift or drag.
