Cool Update - 1991 rx-7

UPDATE - Engine swap complete. Replaced the old NA/Non-Turbo engine that had a blown APEX seal with a rebuilt ATK engine - JDM (30K Miles, 12B Turbo). Wiring harness that came with the engine is a nightmare, some of the wires are cut. Also, thinking about ditching my quest for Front mounted intercooler for a V-mount. COMMENTS????

Um, OK.

Depending on your goals with the car (do you intend to make some power?) and the level of harness destruction, then it may be worth considering going to a full standalone.

V-mount requires a lot of fabrication. Front mount is more straightforward but in theory, V-mounting allows better airflow through the rad and intercooler. Important if you are tracking the car, not as important on the street.

Never thought about stand alone, I'll have to look into that. Not looking to track the car, just looking to replace the useless stock intercooler that came with it. If front mount is a little easier, that will probably be the one I go with, thanks for the info.

So this is a stock turbo car? Then there's probably no need for an intercooler upgrade if you are running close to stock boost.

The factory intercooler is far from "useless".

Front mount or V-mount would do me no good if I don't plan to race the car?

It depends on your power goals. If you just have the stock turbo and run stock boost or just above, then there isn't much reason to upgrade the intercooler. Especially going to something as radical as a V-mount.
