FL turboII engine not getting gas?

I just finished up putting a 88 t2 engine into an 88 gtu and it has compression and spark but doesnt seem to be getting any fuel. I have a defi fuel pressure gauge installed after the fuel filter and it says it has adequate fuel pressure (70-80psi), but when i try to start the engine it just turns over and over and over and never even tries to start. Also, if i turn it over for a while it doesnt seem to smell like gas in the garage? and i can only smell the marvel mystery oil i poured in the engine if i put my nose right up to the tail pipe after i try to start it. Anyone have any ideas what it could be or had a similiar problem? any kind of help or ideas is greatly appreciated! thanks!

70-80psi is way too high if you're tee'd into the fuel feed line. You should only see that much if you "deadhead" the line. Normal fuel pressure when the engine is not running is about 40psi. If this is a J-spec engine, you probably have the fuel lines backwards.

your injectors are not fireing. I had the same problem. My car was not starting because it wasnt getting fuel. Mine issue turned out to be a broken wire on my crank angle sensor.
