turbo problem can anyone help??

hey i have a 1990 rx7, i just bought a new engin and put it in, it runs like new but for some reason the turbo smokes. maybe the seals in the turbo?? take a look a the picture for where it is!!!

Is the smoke coming from the tailpipe, or just where you indicate on the picture?

just where i high lighted on the picture.... it smokes a little from the tail pipe but stops after it warms up.. but it still smokes from the turbo.

First, check the turbo for external oil leaks.

If that's not it, then pull the downpipe and check the turbine housing for evidence of oil leaks.

It sounds like the turbine seal may be leaking.

alright thanks. ill take a look.. if its the seals how would you repair them?? can u do it your self or would i have to take it to a place to rebuild it or something ??

Have at rebuilt because at the same time they will balance it. But it may be cheaper to find a good used unit.

I had a bit of smoke coming from the turbo and it turned out to be a small external oil leak burning on the hot exhaust. I would check all the fittings first up.
