Tune up questions for the 13B?
I am new to rotaries, and I am getting a 1988 Mazda RX7 convertible. I've done a search on the questions I have, but the threads are buried somewhere:
1. Recommendations on Spark plugs and wires?
2. Oil Weight and Brand recommedations? I've heard 20W50 is good to make the engines last longer and better lubrication. I've also heard the OEM oil filters are the best.
3. If I go Synthetic, which oils should I stick with?
4. Transmission Fluid, anything specific?
Basically just trying to get the information on what these non-turbo rotaries like. I am mechanically inclined.

1. Standard NGK plugs. NGK makes plug wires too.
2. 20W-50 is acceptable in our climate according to the manual, but 10W-30 or 10W-40 will be just fine.
3. I never use synthetic, but if you do, stick to high-end brands. Royal Purple, Amsoil are a couple good ones, and I think some people use Castrol GTX.
4. I use 75W-90 NEO synthetic, and it's been great so far. Here's a link to a source: http://www.mazdatrix.com/q-supply.htm.

Same here...I live in South Florida and I use Castrol GTX 20-50 conventional during the summer months & prolly switch to 10-40 in the colder months depends on how cold it gets down here for winter...NGK plugs works wonders i tuned up my gxl 2 weeks ago and it runs like a CHAMP!!! NGK plugs Trailing 9 heat range Leading 7 heat range w/ NGK wires. Gotta do tranny and diff fluid eventually. I heard that some synthetics can eat @ the rotors side seals or something of that nature...Stick with conventional oil.
