Trying to decide between two...
I am considering one of two RX7's. One is an '83 model that has roughly 120k miles, is a one owner car, had an engine rebuilt around 13 years ago, then was parked. Apparently the owner bought a new car, and parked the rx7. I know that lot of parts will need to be replaced (belts, hoses, plugs, wires, battery, fluids, brakes...)
The other is an '89 GXL. The engine in this car has recently been rebuilt, but it is leaking a lot of oil. apparently the rear dowel pin o-ring seal didn't seat right. So this engine will need to be torn down and rebuilt.
So my question is, if both owners are asking the same price, which would be the better deal?
Is it likely that the engine in the '83 will be OK, or possibly need rebuilt after sitting?
I like both cars pretty well.

That is a hard question to answer. The 1st gen is a totally different car then the 2nd gen.
If you prefer a more pure and simple sports car experience, then the 1st gen is your car.
If you lean towards a more "sophisticated" experience while still maintaining the fun of a sports car, then the 2nd gen is your car.
If a rotary has sat for 13 years without being stored properly, it is highly likely the engine will need to be torn down. Also, a car that has sat for 13 years will need a LOT more work to get it back on the road. Things like brakes, fuel lines, etc.
