Transmission stuck in neutral (not a hydraulic problem)
Hey,
Sometimes my transmission will resist entering any gear, it feels like the clutch is still fully engaged even though the pedal is to the floor. I checked the master and slave and neither seem to be leaking, the slave also seems to be pushing on the fork the way it should.
It's done this twice in the space of 2 weeks, the first time was after I heard a clunk while I was stopped facing downward on a pretty steep hill with the clutch in. I tried to push the shifter into first but it wouldn't go in and just started slowly moving the car forward, even though the clutch was completely pressed in. The second time seemed completely random, and I wasn't on an incline.
The only way i found to get the clutch working again was to start it in first with the clutch pressed in, the starter would jump the car forward a few feet (I know its bad for the starter but i couldn't afford a tow) and after the initial jump its like the clutch was working fine again.
It seems to me the clutch isn't disengaging from the transmission for some reason. I watched a video about a faulty retaining ring on the throw out bearing causing the throw out bearing to not separate the clutch from the flywheel, could this be my problem? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
