tools for pulling a transmission

I have an 81 gsl. I'm looking at pulling a transmission soon. What tools do I need? Anything special? From what I see its mostly just sockets.

You'll need a pilot shaft to center the clutch disc to re-install the transmission. Clutch 'kits' sometimes come with plastic version. Or you can cut the input shaft off an old transmission.
