throttle body buzzing

On my JDM auto '92 FD when I press the throttle down slightly with the engine off and the ignition on the something is making a very loud (has been getting worse) buzzing noise with the engine on it still makes a noise but obviously sounds different
Also makes the noise when I just pull on the throttle cable

After doing some reading on the interweb many people have similar problems but I can't seem to find any solutions to the problems! I think it may be the throttle servo making the noise?

I have just had a new mid pipe fitted, but it still makes a noise when the engine is off so I doubt this is the problem

If any one has had this problem before then I would appreciate some help

Something may be loose and rattling around. Have someone else rev the car while you listen through a piece of tubing to the area you suspect it's coming from. You should be able to isolate it. Could be a rattling heat shield, loose harness, bad alternator/airpump/AC/PS bearing, etc.

Hey man i had the same exact problem. Is yours a Turbo 2, if so between the alternator and the battery there is a solenoid, it has a red cap on it with 2 vacuum lines running to and from. its your boost solenoid. helps you get up to peak boost. unplug that and see if it goes away. bet it does! let me know!

had a look today, its the throttle position sensor, discovered by unplugging it and the noise stopped, possibly on its way out. will get a replacement.

thanks for the help

Um, the TPS is just a sensor. It has no mechanism to make a noise.

Are you sure it's not the idle valve? It will hum, and probably stop if you unplug the TPS.

Im guessing it might be the idle speed control valve as well. I read somewhere that it will buzz when its on its way out.

The idle air control valve is located right behind the tps attached to the intake manifold by the firewall. It affects your rpms under load like when you turn on the a/c. Usually a car with a bad iac will stall when under load or the rpms will be freaking out if it gets stuck. You can unplug the sensor and see if it affects your idle, check for constant ohms(mine were around 12.5), or take it off and see if the valve is stuck. Usually if its stuck you can just free it with carb cleaner and then lube it up with wd-40.
