Unhappy Temperature Issue?

Okay, so I have a '93 FD twin, non ls swapped. About a week ago, I blew my radiator hose (about a 1/4 in tear in the hose) and it ended up spewing out all my fluid. Last night, I put my new mishimoto hose on, filled it with the antifreeze/coolant, and tried starting the car. I did, however, notice what seemed to be a leak in my reserve coolant tank. The car would start, however, after a few minutes, the temp gauge would start beeping, and flash red, that it was too hot. The temp gauge, however, is staying down at cold, and not flashing up to hot. When my buddy and I removed the radiator cap, the fluid was boiling, but we couldnt tell if its from the amount I put in, or too much heat. I'm thinking the thermostat is closed, and wont reopen itself. any ideas? any help would be great, and thank y'all in advance
