Ground control kits are supposed to adjustable to stock ride height. They can also provide longer springs if you ask. They can probably suggest a spring rate and length if you chat with them about your intended use. Then look into pairing springs rates with certain shock models in the suspension/shock/tire section of this forum.

couple of things:
1. stock FD shocks are actually quite good and seem to last a long time. I got 100k good miles out of my stock R1 shocks before they were feeling worn enough to replac with Koni adjustables.
2. Any aftermarket spring will lower the ride height and increase spring rate. If you don't want to lower ride height, stick with stock springs. RSR and Tein have some springs that don't lower a lot and increase spring rates.
3. If you want stiffer springs that won't decrease ride height, you will need to go to a coilover setup. There are plenty out there so search the Suspension section for threads on the topic. I personally use Koni shocks with a Ground Control coil over kit.
4. If you do go with coilovers, expect ride quality to suffer over Brooklyn's and NYC's terrible roads. I used to live there.
Lastly, Auto RND is a good vendor offering nicely priced suspension solutions.

Not sure if he offers Konis. If he doesn't, you can get Konis from shox.com and other vendors as well.
One last comment on Konis - the Koni shocks for FDs have 3 position adjustable spring perches so you can use your stock springs and position the perch in the middle location and get a 1/2" or so of lowering.

Thanks for all the feedback.
I do know that the car has low mileage stock shocks in it. It sounds like I should keep springs and shocks stock. Yes, NYC is the reason why I do not want to lower it or use coilovers.
The question then would be what are the best swaybars to use with stock spring rates?

Not sure but try calling Pettit, RX7.com and also talk with Auto RND for sway bars. I use Eibach sway bars but they are no longer available. Also take a look at Tanabe sways. AutoRND might have these but I don't remember.
