Steering wheel play

I have some play at the top of the steering wheel. When I push it up or side to side there is about 1/4 in. of movement. I took of the cover and can see a white plastic piece moving around. While moving the wheel I looked for play in the colum itself but there is no movement there, just at the top of the colum near where the wiper and turn signal attach. Wally

When posting a question it's best to include the year of the car at the least so people can help you better

If your steering column has no play then its something on the surface, missing bolts or broken brackets holding it all down together.
If you do piece it apart to figure it out might as well pick up a quick release and throw that in as well lol

steering wheel play

Again thanks to all I took a closer look and it does look like it is the bushing as i can see a plastic piece that is moving when I move the wheel. I got one at the junk yard (found three there and will pull the wheel to confirm and replace as nesisary
