Starting problems
I have had problems starting my 91 automatic for about 6 months. I had the car in the shop and they treated it as a flood problem. They were able to get it to start, but after a few weeks the same thing again.
It clicks when you try to start it, but was able to start when jumped. It did act like it had been flooded when it started but was running fine after idling. I let it run for a half hour then took it for a spin. All seemed fine. I parked it then came home next day and tried to start it. At first it clicked like before, but then after two attempts it turned over and started.
Any ideas? I think it must be either a starter problem or perhaps the ignition.

If it clicks and does not start, it has nothing to do with flooding. A flooding problem is characterized by the engine cranking over, but never catching or having trouble catching.
The click-no-start problem happens to a lot of people, and there really isn't one single cure. Your problem could be a number of things. The battery may not be holding a charge, the alternator may not be charging it properly, the starter may be bad, your battery cables could be corroded or poorly connected to the starter, the starter signal wire from the ignition may be dirty or the ignition switch itself could be dirty.

Starter problem
Thanks, I think the shop thought it was a flooding problem due to it being flooded from attempting to start because of the other problem. I suggested the starter to them, but they tested and thought it was fine. I think it has to be a bad connection or wiring. We have had the car for three years and it will run fine for months then just not start out of the blue. I don't think it is the battery because it seems to be holding a charge, but I think they put to small of a battery in when it was in the shop last time.
