speedometer

So I have an 87 tII but amongst other probs my speedo wont move at all . i took it apart and the clip for the speedo looks like its missing something . the clip looks like a bearing but the thing it clips onto is a bearing. is there supposed to be a shaft in the middle connecting the two?

I'm not quite sure what you mean in your post, but it sounds like the speedometer cable may be broken.

On the cluster end, inside the white connector, there should be a square wire which plugs into a square hole on the back of the cluster.

On the transmission end, there is a round wire with a flared flattened section. This mades up with a slotted shaft inside the transmission.
