spark on trailing no spark on leading
1987 gxl jdm tii swap. ran recently after i got a new ecu (burnt resistor causing no spark) but there was a lean spot in the play of the throttle before i got to the real throw of the pedal. So i tightened up the cable and after i did that it wouldnt start but barely pop when cranking. plugs were very dirty, cleaned them then it started for about 5 sec idling very low (min idle screw all the way out). i check for spark with a test light and only the trailing coils are sparking. i have power to b/y wire to leading coil. put test light to g/y and turned motor by hand, no light. put test light on g/y at ecu, cranked, no light. what would cause only one coil to fail? ill open up my ecu and try another coil pack i have. could there be a wire grounding out and blowing a resistor in my ecu in the ignition system? thanks in advance, anything helps. im just staring at diagrams and poking stuff with a test light.
update: checked G/Y wire to L coil pack with a ohm meter, with acc. on gets 1v and 5v when cranking (@ coilpack and ecu), have 12v to B/Y wire and put in a whole new coilpack (tested), still nothing. I refreshed the grounds, cleaned the injectors, cleaned out gas tank, checked fuel sock filter, new fuel filter, cleaned CAS plug, checked inside of ecu, resistance checked the wires to ecu. I dont see both igniters being bad so theres no reason for it not to spark, should have the voltage and signal it needs. right?
