TN Sitting for 6 years. Fuel pump will not come on. Need HELP!!!

I just bought a 93 touring model. It has been sitting for 6 years.

I drained the gas. Put MMO in the spark plug holes for a week and kept rotating it and adding MMO each day and spinning it. Bought a new battery, made sure it was fully charged. Added 5 gal of fresh gas.

The fuel pump will not come on. I tried jumping the connection at the diagnostic box and the fuel pump still will not come on. The W/R wire gets power at the fuel pump when diag is jumped, but when it is not jumped, it does not get power.

Checked all the relays and they are clicking and coming on.

It cranks over easily, but no fuel pump.

Need some help.

I am ordering a new fuel pump and fuel filter tomorrow.

I pulled the pump and ran it directly to the battery and it is dead. Well its more seized up. Hopefully that is the only issue.

Hopefully you didn't order a stock fuel pump from Mazda. Used one will work fine for $30.

To test the fuel pump within the stock wiring, use the small black box between the battery and wheelwell. Open it and insert a solid wire (paper clip) to jumper between the "F/P" terminal and any position marked "GND". When you key on the fuel pump should run full time. While you're waiting for your new pump you can at least try this to verify the wiring is functioning correctly.

Hey Brent,

I'm in murfreesboro. I met you at the NSS once during a track event. I drive a black 2000 Acura Integra with a TypeR wing.

I thought about seeing if you had time to bring one of yours by one day so I could look at your rat nest to find out where a few vacuum lines go to.

Do you have any spare parts or used original parts for the rx7?

I did this procedure while the pump was in the car and when I put the jumper in I would get power at the plug, but when I put the plug in, the pump would not come on.

New pump should be here today.

Cool! I do, but I live in GA currently. If you are needing stock parts, just let me know what you are needing and I'll dig through my stuff. Chadwick on the forum is the guy to see in our area to get work done. He has a day job that is keeping him pretty busy M-F currently, but he might have a weekend or two open between races if you need some work done. He has a shop in Smyrna.

haha ya.. I started to give it a shot tonight, but said F-that once I seen how hard it was. It wasn't something I was going to start messing with at 3am after working on the CR-V all night.

I'll try tomorrow.

Fuel Pump not coming on

I have a 93 TT. I just bought it almost 2 months ago. The fuel pump will not come on when the key is turned. I put a new fuel pump in and it still will not come on. When I jump the DIAG connector under the hood, it comes on when the key is turned.

Any ideas? I checked fuses and swapped relays but no luck.

Just need someone to point me in the right direction as this is my first rotary.

No clue about FD's, but I dare say you need to give more info if you want any specific advice.

Or you can troubleshoot it yourself:

Well, apparently it wasn't the fuel pump, eh.

What makes you think its the fuel pump? How are you testing it? Do you see and hear it working with the key or Diag?

It works with Diag jumped. I started troubleshooting it some more tonight but got sidetracked.

check if the main relays clickin because if you have a bad ground then it will not click and the fuel pump will not work .just check your grounds
