on the stock intake the snorkel that goes from the airbox to infront of the radiator there is a (air chamber im guessing) off the front of the snorkel.
just was wondering what is the purpose of this?
thought i would ask here first.

 

It is a factory cold air intake.

 

that makes sense for the snorkel thing that picks up air in front of the radiator, but i see no purpose for the little air chamber that comes off of it.

 

mine is all cut off and a filter is just put on the tube

 

ive heard the stock intake setup is a pretty good cool air intake

 

It is just a resonating chamber to quiet the intake.

i fiqured, but i bet the change in db. is very small(if any).
why would mazda do this, it just seems so retarded.
