GA Shutter Valve replacement

I am about to replace the shutter valve in my 1985 GS model and was wondering if anyone had any advice for this procedure .......

I am basically following the procedure outline on mazdatrix .....
http://www.mazdatrix.com/FAQ%5CSHUTTER.HTM

Are there any "gotchas" that are especially tough to work through ?

thanks

It's straight forward but some of the bolts are tricky to fasten, not unfasten. Also, install the gasket with some copper spray material, don't use any goop. Guess how I found that out?

If you don't have emissions testing, I would simply remove the shutter valve and seal the holes. A lot of us do this for the slight performance increase (theoretical) and reliability (proven).

Good luck...

Have fun putting on the engine/firewall side carb nut. I used a long skinny screwdriver and got it to thread the third time. Snap-on carries the 12MM distributor wrench you will need to put it on.
