MD Serial Numbers on OEM Spoilers

My R1 spoiler met an unfortunate end a couple days ago when someone mistakenly pushed it while trying to push my car into the garage. The spoiler broke off. Not sure if its fixable.

Im looking for another OEM R1 spoiler preferably in VR. I want to stay as close to stock as possible. Is there a way to tell if a product is from the factory, I saw a couple on ebay, some with a serial number others with none...but both listed as OEM. My broken spoiler has a serial number on it, and I know it has never been replaced before.

Thanks!

Did you ever find an answer on this? Is the serial number etched in it? Is it on a sticker? Is it on a plate?

Does anyone have a pic of one of these serial numbers?

These were also installed on Touring and Base models and AFAIK, the ONLY spoiler that was offered by MAZDA on any FD for North American or anywhere else for that matter, from 93-95. IIRC it has a molded-in number on the bottom side of the wing portion. I don't have a picture off-hand, but I DON'T think this is a serial number anyway. I don't think it's even a part number. Probably just something the company making them for MAZDA used. You MAY be able to still purchase a new one, but used ones come up often in the "Parts for Sale" section and you might even get lucky and find one already in your color. I'd look/ask to make sure ALL of the studs are present and in good shape. IIRC there's also a gasket that helps seal them, though I'd probably augment it with some silicone if I ever had to remove mine for some reason.
Not certain about the chronology, but I think in 96 (note these were never imported to North America) they changed to what's usually referred to as a "whale-tail" style spoiler. And in 99+ yet another, more heavily styled/expansive rear spoiler was offered which IIRC, even came with some adjustability. All three used different mounting bolt patterns on the hatch.
Hope this helps.

I purchased a spoiler from another member, that came off a VR R1, it also had the molded in number that mine had. Not sure what it means, as Sgt Blue pointed out it may not be a serial number.
