Hello everyone after having my 1984 mazda rx7 gsl se stolen back 37 years ago I know bought a used one I’m going to recondition it and could use some help. I’m not a mechanic but can use tools. The lock handle on the drivers door is busted
when you lift the handle you can’t open the door. Only if your in the car you can open it. I took the interior door apart and noticed that a small metal piece at the top of the linkage is broken which was supposed to be linked to the bar. What is this piece called and where can I get it

welcome aboard. if the door handle issue is what i think it is, the little ear where the rod connects to that operates the latch release is broken. the only remedy is a replacement handle which is nla new. i suggest posting a want to buy ad in the marketplace. https://www.rx7club.com/market/. i think they're cast with those ears on both ends so wont matter if driver of pass side.

a quick google search found these

Welcome to the forum! As suggested above, the outer door handle has failed. They are simple to replace and they commonly break in the manner is which your did.

Would love to see pictures of your new SE!!! Do you know any of the car's history?
