OK, i think this is the wrong section but i dont know how to post elese ware as i am new. Im looking into getting ither a 12a or 13b for my sand rail to replace the blown vw 1600cc. I seem to be able to find blown 12as ( or ones that havent run in 2 years) or 13BS. however i ned it to be carbd so i am wondering both how hard is it to rebuild a 12a? and how hard is it to convert a 13b to carbs?

As long as you do not try to buy anything in this section the Thread will remain open.

Now,13b Engines can be converted to Carb easily.You can get the aftermarket manifolds and block off the oil injection ports ( if the engine was EFI originally).

I'm EFI so I can tell you about the Carb setup,but it is pretty well 1st gen based and Maybe one of the 1st gen guys can chime in.
You can also gain some posts by reading the info in the Rules threads and then search info in other sections on this topic.

 

Why block off the oil ports? Sorry im kind of a noob! What kind of carb would you put on a 13b?
