Safe psi levels?

I was skimming the forum and I heard that certain psi levels with stock ecu are harmful and may cause rotary engine detonation. When does this detonation actually occur? what psi level is safe with stock ecu and stock twin turbos of a 13b-re?

Detonation can happen on any engine, not just rotaries. If the mixture is too lean, or the timing is not retarded enough, it can occur. If your fuel set up is the same or similar to what was found on a stock Cosmo, you should probably leave the boost level stock. I think the stock boost level on a 13B-RE is 10-8-10 (psi) like with the 3rd gen RX7's 13B-REW engine.

If you are going to stay with the stock ecu then leave it alone. If you get a standalone ecu like megasquirt then you can tune your car for higher boost.

I would leave it alone until you got some sort of fuel management like a full stand alone or piggy back system.

Dont stuff around with your boost unless your tuner advises you to. And I highly doubt he/she would with a stock ECU.
