S5 Swapped 87 TII problems
Well Im new to the site but not new to RX7 however I have a 87 TII that is having some problems. This is my second 7 and the first was a NA. The problems Im having is around 3K rpms it jumps real bad. I replaced the tps and it stopped for a wile but its back now. A friend said it might be the ecu, he did a S5 swap into it for me and the ecu was in a little water from sitting for a wile. Any help would be great!!!

What do you mean by "around 3K RPM it jumps"? Is there a stumble in that part of the rev range as you bring the RPMs up? Does it do it free reving, or only under load? 3K RPM is around the range where the turbo will build boost under load, so manifold pressure will change & the ECU will change timing and fuel delivery. A damaged ECU is a possibilty.

Its only wile driving, sitting and reving is fine goes through the RPMs just fine. I have a RB FCD but it didnt help. And if I gas it through the rpms the jump will usualy stop. I was wanting to just find another N333 ecu and send it to pocketlogger to add a 1.7 or something like that. Would do you think?

ECU or boost sensor trouble come to mind. The boost sensor can be tested to see if it meets the specs in the FSM. Testing an ECU is a lot harder, so trying another one could help. You might also open up the case to see if there are any burned areas on the circuit board. If you're going to go with an Rtek 1.7 chip (and 720cc injectors / bigger fuel pump), then picking up another N332/333 won't hurt.

I will check the ECU for burns and the boost sensor first, thanks that will save me alot of time. Ya the main reason for another ECU is for the Rtek 1.7 I already have a walbro 255 so I will ned the chip and 4 720cc.

Right now its just BOV, MBC, 3" exhaust, looking into doing a T3T4 or something like that. BNR has some nice upgrades also. wanting to make around 350 to 400 hp.......... Any Ideas???? Wha would be a good way to go?

T3/T4 is just a flange, but I assume you're talking about a full turbo upgrade. If you're thinking of that, a full standalone like Power FC, Haltech, Microtech, etc... is the best way to go. The Rtek 2.1 could get it done, but it won't have as much control for fine tuning, and can only handle injectors up to about 1000cc.
A large BNR hybrid will be fine with the Rtek 2.1. There are many people using this combination. No 1.x chip should be used with hybrid turbos in my opinion. They're not programmable, which is very dangerous on a heavily modified engine.
