s5 stock Turbo II vs street ported s4

i have an extra s4 compleat motor that i picked up for $100.00 i was looking into rebuilding it with one of racing beat race rebuild kits with carbon apex seals for $1000 and doing a mild street port. then their is the jdm turbo motors for 1600 with 56,000 miles on them
what do you guys think would be a better way to go?

i no from on this site that a streetport may give as much hp as a stock tII but not the torque.

This topic is a bit confusing, because none of the language is clear.

First, is this an S4 turbo engine you are comparing to? Or NA?

If it is a comparison to an NA engine, then there is no comparison. The stock TII engine will result in a faster car. Even if the peak HP is the same, the TII engine has far more midrange torque.

would it be near the same if the s4 na had a complete TII swap? or does the s5 still have more hp because it simply had more stock tobegin with?

An S5 TII primarily has more power than an S4 TII because it runs higher boost in stock form. There are other smaller aspects like a more efficient turbine design, slightly larger intake runners and higher compression ratio, but the extra boost is the deciding factor.

I currently have a street ported 13b in my 86 rx7 and i can honestly say that i prefer my buddies Turbo II over my street ported motor. Then again i have always perffered turbos. I just thought i would give street port a try. Its personal preference overall but at the same time the other question should be: "What application are you using this for?" is it just a track car, or a daily, i mean i would be thinking about fuel consumption as well.

I know personally driving with a turbo setup, i used up fuel like crazy because i always wanted to stay in the boost. But then again i have a lead foot.

I'd suggest sticking with S4 stuff then unless you intend to run a full standalone.
