S4 NA RX7 High Idle

Hey guys, when I cold start my car, the engine revs all the way to 3000 RPM and stays there for a bit.

Over time it comes down. Is that initial high idle normal?

Yes its a cold start feature all RX7s do it. If you don't want it to do it start it with the car in gear ( for manual )

It occurs to warm up the catalytic converters. It should only occur when the coolant temp is above 60 degrees or so. There is a sensor just to measure this and if the temp reading is too low then the high idle high rpm startup will not occur so as to prevent a cold engine from reving.

if you blip the throttle right when you start it up, the idle will come down
