S4 engine with S5 UIM?
I live in cali and I'm interested to do this mod. I would like to make it smog legal if possible without blocking off the EGR system. Would this be possible? or better yet get a whole new engine!

The stock Mazda EGR valve will not fit under the S5 upper intake manifold. The S4 non turbo mounts the EGR valve on the top of the motor.
So, you would either need to re-locate the EGR valve, or find another valve that might fit, or modify the valve in some way.
The car will pass emissions sniffer testing with the valve not working. But not the visual.
